Description:

Chris Hansen was born in Chicago in 1947. He attended Carleton College in Minnesota and graduated in 1969. Hansen then pursued his law degree at the University of Chicago. In 1973, Hansen started working with the ACLU's Mental Health Law Project and then served as director of the New York Civil Liberties Union's Mental Patients' Rights Project. He has also worked as a staff attorney and senior staff counsel for the national ACLU since 1984.
