Description:
William Llewellyn was born in Philadelphia in 1919, and grew up in Chettenham, Pennsylvania and Plainfield, New Jersey.  Llewellyn attended Rutgers College in 1938, graduating in 1941 with a degree in mechanical engineering.  In 1942, at the age of 22, Llewellyn enlisted in the US Navy Reserve, receiving diesel engine training and serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II, including in the Solomons, New Guinea, and the Philippines.  After his service, Llewellyn worked as an engineer in the paper industry for 29 years before his retirement.
