Center of Research and Information on the Battle of the Bulge

This international organization has devoted itself to preserving the memory of the men and women caught in Hitler's desperate gamble in the West.  This web site features information on the battle, memorials, and several articles of commentary.

Hell on Wheels

The official web site for the 2nd Armored Division.  Features a history of the division and its units, articles and reports on its exploits during World War II, including the breakout at St. Lo, and information on reunions and veterans of the division.

Are You Related to Someone Who Served in the Military?

This site allows veterans and their relatives to register their names and information on the Internet, providing a valuable resource for people searching for lost friends and family.  If you have always thought about trying to track down a buddy you met while overseas, give this site a try.

Bomber Command Association

Bomber Command Association has recorded information on over 5000 crashes in Western Europe during World War II.  If you are looking for an airman who crashed in the ETO, check out this site.  Since BCA is based in the Netherlands, crashes in that occured in that nation are stressed.

Heavy Bombers

A site dedicated to the "Big Friends" of the Army Air Forces, the B-17, B-24, and B-29.  Excellent for learning more about plane specifications, individual bomb groups, and Air Force POWs.

Belleville Sons & Nutley Sons

Maintained by New Jersey author Anthony Buccino, these websites honor the sons of Belleville and Nutley who gave their lives in defense of the nation from the American Revolution to the end of the Cold War.

Marine Bombing Squadron 613 (VMB-613)

Official website for the VMB-613 Association, the only Marine combat squadron to operate the PBJ-1H Bomber (the USMC version of the B-25H Mitchell Bomber). This site features an in-depth history of the squadron, including a day-by-day account of its operations against the Japanese-held Marshall and East Caroline Islands, the PBJ-1C, D, H & J aircraft, and personal accounts and photos from the men who served in the Kwajalein-based squadron.

Center for the Study of War and Society

Located at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and directed by G. Kurt Piehler, (Director, Rutgers Oral History Archives, 1994-1999), this center features full-text access to interviews with veterans and home front participants from WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

The Institute on World War II and the Human Experience

Run by the History Department of Florida State University, this project collects oral histories and materials in a fashion similar to the Rutgers Oral History Archives of World War II.

Guadalcanal Journal

One Marine's account of the pivotal battle for Guadalcanal, told through a combination of both his war diary and an essay written by his daughter.

The American Experience: Guts and Glory

Based upon the PBS television show of the same name, this site offers veterans' accounts from both sides of the war in Europe, as well as transcripts of the episodes dealing with D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge.

The National D-Day Memorial Foundation

This site presents both information on the actual battle and updates on current efforts to memorialize the events of June 6, 1944.  Also included in this site's account of the Normandy invasion are testimonials from eye-witnesses.

World War II Experiences of Staff Sergeant Albert R. Panebianco

One man's account of the 45th Infantry Division's harsh journey through Anzio, Operation Nordwind, the liberation of Dachau, and everything in-between.  Also, this page features stories about Congressional Medal of Honor winners from the 45th, a heroic chaplain, and much more.

D-Day Account of LTC John Burkhalter

Letters, photographs, and poetry help form one chaplain's account his experiences with the First Division, the Big Red One, at Normandy and beyond.  An additional section on his experiences in Korea is also included at this site.

A Long Way Home

Sponsored by the State Library of Victoria in Australia, this site features RealTime audio and trasncripts of Australia war vets from WWI to current operations of the Australian Armed Forces. Victorians at War also features digitized versions of diaries, letters and other artifacts. The website also features a number of audio/textual exhibits that center on themes of military life.


Vietnam War Links

The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial

The official site of the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial, Educational Center and Foundation includes information about its Holmdel, NJ, facility, the history of the Foundation, upcoming events and information for teachers and researchers. The site features a searchable database of biographies on the 1,557 New Jersey residents confirmed killed in the Vietnam War. Every day, the Memorial's main page features the names of the men and women who lost their lives on that day of the year.

The Rutgers University Queens Guard

The official website of the Queens Guard Precision Rifle Drill Team. Founded in 1957, the Queens Guard has earned numerous honors in national and international drill competitions, such as the US National Drill Championships and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Former members of the Queens Guard recently formed the Queens Guard Alumni Association, a part of the Rutgers Alumni Association. Through this new association, they aim to reinvigorate the Queens Guard program on the Rutgers campus and prepare for the organization's fiftieth anniversary in 2007.
