Description:
Mr. Bernstorf was born in the Bronx, NY, and grew up in Teaneck, NJ. He entered Rutgers in 1942, but left to enlist in the US Marine Corps less than a year later. He served in the US Marine Corps Air Corps as an aircraft engineer in various stateside postings. He returned to Rutgers on the GI Bill and graduated in 1948 with a degree in ceramics. He also earned a commission through the Rutgers ROTC. He spent his career as a manager at Commercial Decal, Inc.
