Description:
Joseph Popielowski was born in West Germany in 1944.  His father was in the Polish Army and Joseph's family workeed on a farm in a small town called Neumarkt in the American Occupation Zone.  His family was able to get a religious visa and moved to New Jersey in the early 1950s.  He attended Freehold High School.  In 1965, Popielowski joined the Army and was inducted in Newark, New Jersey.  He served in the Fourth Infantry Division during the Vietnam War and was there during the Tet Offensive.  He was discharged in the summer of 1968.  After the war, Joseph Popielowski worked at Robert Wood Johnson for thirty two years. Later in life, he has developed cancer as a result of exposure to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War.
