Description:

 Mr. Kugler, the son of Jewish immigrants from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, was born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in Union City and West New York, NJ, during the Great Depression. He attended NYU briefly before attending Rutgers on the Edgar Bacon Scholarship, awarded to Hudson County students interested in journalism. After graduating in 1949, he worked for a clothing manufacturer in NYC before being drafted into the US Marine Corps in February 1952. After boot camp at Parris Island, SC, he served at Camp Lejeune, NC, until the end of the Korean War. He spent his career in the mortgage and real estate finance fields.
