Kenneth Gurbisz was born on July 8, 1948 in Bayonne, New Jersey. Growing up in Bayonne, he attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel and then Bayonne High School. Mr. Gurbisz went to the Newark College of Engineering in 1967-1968, before enlisting in the Army in May 1968.

 

In the Army, Mr. Gurbisz completed basic training at Fort Polk and advanced training at Fort Rucker.  During the Vietnam War, he served as a helicopter pilot in the 604th Transportation Company at Pleiku from May 1969 to May 1970.  

 

After the war, Mr. Gurbisz returned to the Newark College of Engineering, where he earned a degree in industrial engineering, and later went on to pursue a graduate degree at George Washington University.  He enjoyed a career as a manager, teacher and consultant.  Mr. Gurbisz has been active in the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation.
