Description:

Fred Plushanski was born in 1929.  He was raised on a farm in Glen Gardner, New Jersey.  After graduating from high school, Mr. Plushanski followed in his older brother's footsteps and joined the Marine Corps.

Mr. Plushanski went to Parris Island for basic training and Camp Lejeune for advanced training in antitank warfare.  During the Korean War, he served as a Marine in operations at Inchon and Seoul and then in the campaign for Wonsan-Hungnam-Chosin.

After his military service, Mr. Plushanski played professional baseball for a short time, worked at John Deere, and then owned and operated a farm in New Jersey.

The Rutgers Oral History Archives received an operating support grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State. In the 2017-2018 cycle, this grant assisted the ROHA staff in making this oral history available to you for your use.
