Robert Faszczewski was born in 1948 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Growing up in the Elizabethport section of the city, he attended parochial school at St. Patrick's and participated in Civil Air Patrol.
He entered Rutgers College in 1966 on a Garden State Scholarship and lived in Tinsley Hall during his freshman year. A liberal arts major with a concentration in journalism, he wrote for The Targum and Press Club Weekly. During his undergraduate years, he worked part time at the Commons Dining Hall and at the Student Center. In the interview, he recalls dorm life and student life during the 1960s, civil rights and antiwar activism on campus and in the surrounding community, the draft lottery, events in the spring of 1970, commencement in 1970, and interviewing Mason Gross for an alumni publication.
During his career, Mr. Faszczewski worked as a journalist covering local towns and governments for newspapers including the Rahway News-Record, Millburn Item, Westfield Leader, and The Courier News. He obtained a paralegal certificate mid-career and also worked for several law firms. As changes in the journalism profession took root, he shifted to writing for the online publication Alternative Press, now called TAPinto, and then worked as an editor for LexisNexis. Currently, he lives in Maryland and writes fiction. He is the author of Taming the Timeline, which was self-published in 2020.
