Description:Dr. de Percin, a New Brunswick, NJ, native, was visiting his father in Martinique when WWII broke out in Europe and barely escaped being trapped in the French colony. After graduating from Rutgers College, he entered the US Army Air Forces, where he became a metrological officer, serving at weather stations in the US, Caribbean and South Pacific. He spent most of his postwar career as a US Army civilian research scientist specializing in extreme climates, except for his service with the National Science Foundation from 1961 to 1963.
