Mr. Lindner was born in Sunbury, PA.  He was educated in Mechanicsburg, PA, and at the Thaddeus Stevens Trade School in Lancaster, PA.  He entered the US Navy in 1943 and served as a radio operator, first aboard the USS Carib (ATF-82), a fleet tugboat, in Brazil and North Africa, then on the USS Mercer (APB-39).  After World War II, he worked as a television serviceman and then for PSE&G as a stationary engineer.
