Mr. Granetz was born in New Brunswick, NJ, and raised in Raritan Borough, NJ.  He studied electrical engineering at Rutgers on the GI Bill and earned his degree and an Army ROTC commission in 1948.  He immediately went on active duty and served overseas on Guam before returning to Fort Monmouth, NJ.  When the Korean War broke out shortly thereafter, he was recalled and sent to Korea with the 25th Signal Company where he worked in radio repair and maintenance.  After his discharge, he spent his career in his family's furniture/shopping center business.
