Description:

Born in Somerville, NJ, Mr. Carpenter grew up in Metuchen, NJ, during the Second World War and post-war eras. He attended Rutgers College and graduated in 1957 with a degree in business administration. While at Rutgers, he played 150-pound football, joined the Lambda Chi fraternity and helped found the Queens Guard Precision Drill Team. Having earned a commission through Air Force ROTC at Rutgers, he served in the US Air Force as an officer and navigator in the 305th Air Refueling Wing, Strategic Air Command, serving on air refueling aircraft. After leaving the USAF, he went to work at IBM, then, the Hess Corporation. He also discusses his activities as a Rutgers alumnus and as a Housing Authority member in Edison, NJ.
