Description:

Andrew J. Melnick was born on December 4, 1941 in Newark, New Jersey.  He grew up in East Orange and then West Orange, where he graduated from high school in 1959.  Mr. Melnick majored in economics at Rutgers College.  He participated in ROTC and worked at WRSU.  Following graduation in 1963, Mr. Melnick served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps.  From January 1964 to January 1965, Mr. Melnick served in the 39th Signal Battalion in Danang, Vietnam.  He later served in the Strategic Communications Command in Washington, D.C.  After his military service, Mr. Melnick earned his MBA at the Rutgers Graduate School of Business in Newark in 1970.  He worked in finance for companies including Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, Woolcott & Co. and Rothschild, Unterberg and Torbin.  Mr. Melnick has been active in the American Jewish Committee.
