James J. McGinnis was born on February 5, 1945.  Mr. McGinnis grew up in Union City, New Jersey and graduated from Emerson High School.  He briefly attended Rutgers at night, and then he was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War.  From 1965 to 1971, Mr. McGinnis served in Company D, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry of the 196th Light Infantry Brigade.  Following the war, Mr. McGinnis worked in sales, ending up as a manager at Scholl Inc.  He has been active in the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation.
