Floyd Bragg was born in 1915 in Newark, New Jersey.  During his childhood, he went to Columbian Grammar School in East Orange.  He attended Irvington High School for one year, before attending Verona High School for the duration of high school.

Mr. Bragg went to Rutgers College beginning in 1932.  He participated in many clubs and activities, including the Targum, Theta Chi fraternity, Cap and Skull Honor Society and student council.  After graduating in 1936 with a bachelor's in Business Administration, he began working at The Prudential.

During World War II, Mr. Bragg was drafted into the U.S. Army.  After basic training at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, he entered officer's training at the Adjutant General's School in Fort Washington, Maryland.  He served in the Adjutant General's Department and then the Air Transport Command.

After his military service, Mr. Bragg spent his career working at The Prudential, eventually becoming the chief public relations officer in Newark.  After his retirement, he led the campaign to rebuild the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn and served on the board.

Mr. Bragg held many positions at Rutgers University.  He served as the president of the Rutgers Alumni Association, chairman of the Board of Governors, and chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Rutgers Foundation.  Rutgers University inducted Mr. Bragg into the Hall of Distinguished Alumni and awarded him an Honorary Doctor of Law.
