The Academic Advisory Board of distinguished scholars from both within Rutgers and across the nation advises the Rutgers Oral History Archives.  Its chair, Dr. John W. Chambers, Professor of History at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, confers with the ROHA directors regularly to review their general practices; their implementation of oral history methodology; their outreach to the communities ROHA serves; their education of undergraduates; and their approaches to new areas of study through oral history. Professor John W. Chambers is the author of the books To Raise an Army: The Draft Comes to Modern America (Free Press/Macmillan, 1987) and The Tyranny of Change: America in the Progressive Era, 1890-1920 (Rutgers Press, 2000), and the editor-in-chief of The Oxford Companion to American Military History (Oxford University Press, 1999).
